EducationBeing Alive believes that in order for a person to take charge of his/her medical care, he/she must have access to current medical information and access to services. We accomplish these goals with a myriad of education programs including our treatment-based Newsletter, our monthly Medical Update series (advertised in our Monthly Calendar), our resource-rich website, and our Speakers’ Bureau. For more information about our Speakers Bureau please contact Colin Hadlow at 310.739.6504. Call Being Alive, 323.874.4322 if you have any questions regarding our educational activities, or you can email us at info@beingalivela.org. Our NewsletterThe Being Alive Newsletter is published eight times per year with original and reprinted articles generated from the community, our membership, and treating physicians and other health professionals. With a worldwide readership of over 12,000 people, the Newsletter provides vital information to a regular audience. The Newsletter is available on our website. Our CalendarThe Being Alive Calendar is published monthly and mailed to over 1,000 members. It is also distributed at various locations. You can pickup a copy at our office. A PDF version is also created monthly and is made available on our website. Medical UpdatesMedical Updates offer presentations of cutting edge treatment information from community doctors on a range of HIV-related issues such as Management of Medication Side Effects, HIV/AIDS & Methamphetamines, HIV/AIDS & Hepatitis "C" Co-infection, and much more. Being Alive hosts monthly medical Updates presented by well respected HIV medical and mental health professionals. These forums are open to the community and always include a free dinner buffet. Medical Updates are announced in our monthly calendar. Speakers BureauThe Being Alive Speakers Bureau educates thousands of local working professionals and school-aged young people about the experience of living with HIV/AIDS, the benefits of getting tested for HIV infection and knowing your HIV status, and the importance of prevention. Call or email Being Alive's Executive Director Kevin Kurth (323.874.4322, kevin@beingalivela.org) for more information regarding our Medical Updates or the Speakers Bureau. |
