Prevention for Positives

Since our inception, Being Alive has advocated for HIV prevention by supporting those already living with this disease. In recent years, that concern has blossomed into broad leadership around the development of prevention programs targeting the needs of people living with HIV and AIDS.

An HIV-positive individual is part of every new infection. Intervention is needed to build the communication and negotiation skills supporting that person in preventing new transmissions.

Being Alive stimulates a non-judgmental environment that is confidential and safe, where HIV-positive people can discuss sexuality, protecting partners, and the impact of new treatment on their lives. With the creation of discussion and focus groups, community forums, workshops and risk reduction counseling, we are committed to providing leadership for our peers.

For more information, email John Balma (323.874.4322, john@beingalivela.org).
